Terry Gross and NPR Celebrate Rosh Hashanah with Promotion of Bill Marr’s “Religi-Lous” Movie

On September 30th, 2008, the first day of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, Terry Gross, host of NPR’s “Fresh Air” decided to celebrate the holiday by focusing the discussion on Bill Marr’s film, “Religulous” I do not believe that this is necessarily wrong, but it is an example of the subtle influence of Secular Liberal Atheism on our publicly funded NPR and PBS media outlets. while separation of church and state is the reason that the SLA movement uses to keep references to religious holidays off of the taxpayer funded public media outlets, apparently, it is fine for the taxpayer to be paying for promotion of anti-religious movies.
I believe that this is an example of how the SLA movement has an inherent hypocrisy in its movement. While mentions of religious holidays need to be decreased, mentions of anti-religious propaganda are being increased. The SLA argument is that since NPR and PBS are paid for by our tax dollars, they want religious subjects to be avoided on these outlets. Yet, this is apparently not true since anti0religious views can certainly be promoted. I believe that the selection of probably the most important of the Jewish holidays to have this broadcast was not a coincidence. I heard the broadcast, and yes, Terry Gross did avoid outright promoting the movie, but the presentation of Bill Marr as a moderate voice just asking questions about religion it clearly false. Bill Marr’s so-called “documentary” is really an outright attack on religion trying to compare violent and extreme religious views as consistent with moderate religious views.
In Bill Marr’s own words, the movie is focused on putting doubt in peoples’ minds about religious belief. Of course, the movie focuses on the three major religions of the world, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. The three are lumped together and the extreme views are the target and intermixed with the moderate views of faith that people have. Anyone who believes that this is an unbiased “documentary” is either an idiot or a member of the SLA movement. It is propaganda, plain and simple. Our tax dollars are paying for the SLA movement propaganda at PBS and NPR. That is their version of fairness.
Conclusion
The Secular Liberal Atheist view of separate of church and state is a hypocrisy. The SLA agenda says that it does not want our tax dollars to be going toward any kind of religious mention. Yet, when it coems to an anti-religious method, the SLA movement is right there putting our tax dollars into it. “Happy New Year” as Terry Gross said in between interview segments.
