“An education is the greatest gift that anyone can receive.”
-William I. Moore (my father)

Bio

I am originally from Reading, PA, where I grew up. I received a BA in Music from Lebanon Valley College and proceeded west to earn two MM degrees from Penn State University in Saxophone Performance and Composition/Theory. As one might guess, I am a musician, and I primarily focus on composition of electronic music these days. Education is a very important part of my life. In 2001, I moved from Pennsylvania to Miami, FL, where I now live. I moved to further my study in composition, engineering, and production by studying a MM in Media Writing and Production at the University of Miami. I am now finishing my DMA in Composition at the University of Miami.

Throughout this time, I have focused on writing music, and founded the group Wayfarer, an electronic world/art/new age group in 1994. As I have moved from place to place, I was and remain the driving force behind Wayfarer, collaborating with other musicians along the way. In 1999, I founded The Wayfarer Project, a production company focused on the release of Wayfarer music and client-based music production. While continuing to work on Wayfarer music as well as music that I release under my own name, I have also been teaching as my primary career. I teach at the University of Miami and Miami-Dade College. I teach courses ranging from electronic music, to music theory, to sound recording, to music business, to music appreciation, and more. My love for teaching and learning is a large part of my inspiration to start The Wayfarer Philosophy. I am a Renaissance man and these are indeed, Renaissance times.

Spiritual Background

My upbringing was largely secular. My mother’s family was Catholic and my father was a Methodist, but they rarely went to church and as a family, we rarely went to church. My parents had a lot of doubt about their faiths, so I was not nurtured as a spiritual thinker to say the least. As I got older and went to college, I fad a fascination with the unknown, largely metaphysics. I read books from Carlos Castaneda, Ken Eagle Feather, and Robert Monroe. Having been a scientist at heart, I decided to explore different spiritual beliefs in order to satisfy my fascination and to also grow as a person. I keep an open mind and learn what I can.

You may often find me defending religion and spirituality on this site. This is because I feel that the growing Secular Progressive movement is causing a lot of harm to the nature of people to want to learn about spirituality and explore the unknown. While I am not religious myself, I believe that people should be encouraged to explore the spiritual beliefs of their religions and try to understand them from a more personal, internal level. The SP movement is largely attacking Christianity, but it poses a serious threat to spirituality in general. Condescending attitudes toward belief in the invisible hurts all faiths and personal exploration of the unknown. I also believe that Christianity has a lot of spiritual depth to it, and that the beautiful mysticism that is inherent in prayer and a personal relationship with jesus “Christ is a great way for people to work on finding themselves or at least proceeding along their own personal, spiritual journeys. Even though I do not choose one specific faith or spiritual path, I believe that when we start knocking down any one faith or path in our society, the door is open for knocking down more. The spiritual journey is an important part of the uniqueness of human beings n their pursuit of answers to existential questions.
