Ted is Dead and Massachusetts Vtes Red – Obama Says it’s Bsh’s Fault as Usual

by Lawrence on Jan.21, 2010, under Barack Obama's Lies, Politics

Here it is, the day after Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts. In this aftermath, Barack Obama’s talking points as uttered by himself and Robert Gibbs, his propagandist is that “it doesn’t have to do with the last one or two years, but rather the last eight years. Still blaming Bush. It doesn’t seem like such a hot explanation given the fact that Massachusetts is a dark blue state, and supposedly, according to Obama and his political advisors, the people decided to show their anger with George Bush by electing a Republican rather than the Democrat that Obama endorsed and spoke for. Yeah, Obama-logic rarely makes sense, but this is going to a whole new low in their perception of the intelligence of the American people.

According to Scott Brown’s own opinion polls, most of the people who voted for him did so because of national security. If you remember, that was one area where John F. Kennedy, a true Democrat, was strong in. Of course, the healthcare debate has a lot to do with it. Although liberal, the majority of the people in Massachusetts disagree with Obamacare just like the majority of people in the United States.

One troubling issue is that many people blame the problems solely on the Democrat leadership in congress. Of course, Harry Reed’s backroom deals and Nancy Pilosi’s blatant disregard for the will of the people are major factors. We need also put equal blame on the Obama administration’s policies. He has been touring around, campaigning, and basically pimping all the different plans that have been coming out of the congress. He chose to put the Stimulus bill in Nancy Pilosi’s hands and supported it afterwards. Obama’s people have been in Harry Reed’s backroom meetings helping to craft whatever monstrosity of a bill they are finalizing now. Why can’t he share some of the blame too? He has endorsed three Democratic candidates in Virginia, New Jersey, and now Massachusetts that have all lost to Republicans, anon Gd he still blames it on George Bush?

To Obama: No slick, the American people are sick of all the things that your and the other Democrat leaders have been doing. We would be willing to give you time to address the economy , but we actually have. I know that things cannot change dramatically in one year, but give us credit for having thoughts about your decisions in trying to address the issue. We know that punishing and demonizing businesses is not going to help create jobs. You’re just playing to peoples’ emotions and trying to get more money to spend. Making deals with your money-donors and the special interest like the special union tax waiver in the healthcare bill just shows that you lied about not listening to the special interest. Somehow your special interest groups are special and the others are evil.

So union members that have the same healthcare plan as non-union members don’t have to pay the 40 percent tax that the rest of the people have to? So, Nebraska gets a special deal on Medicaid to buy Ben Nelson’s vote? So Louisiana gets a special $300 million deal to get Mary Landrieu’s vote? So Bill Nelson’s vote got bought for allowing seniors to keep Medicare advantage in 3 Democratic counties in Florida while the rest of the state and country don’t?

Call me silly, but if you were not in favor of these deals, you might have spoken out against them.

Call me naive, but you probably could have requested that Harry Reed’s backroom deals in the Obamacare meetings the last few weeks could have been televised on C-Span like you promised eight times. At least you could have called for it.

Maybe you could have argued against the taxes on healthcare plans that will actually make healthcare plans more expensive for us, unlike your promises of reducing our expenses.

Nahhhh.. none of that had to do with Massachusetts voting in a Republican into a senate seat that has been occupied by Democrats for the last 58 years. Besides, it’s Bush’s fault that they voted for a Republican. Yeah, you make a lot of sense… dumbass.

Big Spending Bill Nelson of Florida Found one thing to Cut – Medicare

by Lawrence on Dec.09, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics

Senator Bill Nelson of Florida has never found a spending opportunity that he doesn’t like. He supported the $787 billion stimulus bill that did not work and was rushed through, he even supported more spending than that and is now behind the new stimulus spending that Obama wants to do with some of the TARP funds that have been paid back or haven’t been spent yet. Bill Nelson supports the “government option” and does not want to see a healthcare bill without the government in full control of every aspect of the healthcare system in this country. Yet…

He has found one are where he thinks we can save some money. He supports the $500 billion cut from Medicare int he Senate healthcare bill. John McCain promoted an amendment to keep Medicare cuts from happening in the Senate bill. Senator Bill Nelson of Florida voted against the amendment, and apparently thinks Medicare is one fine thing to cut in spite of all his loose spending everywhere else. That’s a good decision, right? Florida does not have a large retired population that is dependent on Medicare, right? f

The only way that Bill Nelson has continued in the Senate for so long is because he has been able to fly under the radar, and avoid attention. He runs as a moderate, but he’s nothing but a big government, big spending liberal. Hopefully now he’ll get some attention in screwing the senior citizens of Florida.

Senator Bill Nelson of Florida – Perfgect Example of the Type of Senator we NEED to get rid of

by Lawrence on Sep.30, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics

Senator Bill Nelson of Florida has always tried to hide behind the label of being a moderate. Since the Obama administration has taken power, and Nancy Pilosi and Harry Reed have been driving the houses of congress, however, Bill Nelson has marched in lock step with all of the far left wing of the Democratic party. He’s been a big spending member of the Senate Finance committee, and has participated in the no-accountability aspect of how the congress has been acting. You remember the fact that a lot of the recent major bills ahve been passed through a rush process where not only do the American people not get to review the legislation before its voted on, but the congress members themselves vote on it before reading it. Well, Bill Nelson is taking the side of non-transparency and not reading the bills before signing them

Bill Nelson has been voting for all of these bills promoted by the far left wing of the Democrat party. He regularly do3es not announce his positions on issues until after the vote. For example, you cannot get his position on the Employee Free Choice Act (Card Check). He doesn’t want to let you know, so he can vote the way he wants and then not have to deal with the opinons of his constituents until later. Now, he fell in line with John Kerry of Massachusetts in voting against providing the American people witht he healthcare legislation that comes out of the Senate for 72 hours prior to voting on it. He and the far left Democrats say that it is a “delay tactic.” Well, for legislation that does not take effect until 2013, what’s the problem with letting the people know about it before you vote on it? What’s wrong with having aenough time to read it yourself as senator before voting on it?

Bill Nelson has not announced whether he supprots a government insurance policy (a.k.a. public “option”), but hsi voting in the Senate Finance Committee has shown that he does. While he voted down the first amendment to put in a “public option,” he voted in favor of Chuck Schumer’s amendment for a “community option.” Does Bill Nelson think we’re dumb and don’t know that Schumer’s “community option” is a government plan? the other thing is that it is really not an option. For example, the plans they are working on now will fine someone who does not sign up for a government approved plan $1900.00 a year. So, if they ahve to fine you for not taking the plan, is it a good plan? Everyone’s talking about how it’ll be free or at least cheap. If it’s chep and/or free, would they ahve to fine you for not buying into it?

Let the record show, Senator Bill Nelson of Florida falls in line with the far left of the Democrat party and is totally in favor of pushing legislation through without letting the American people reading it, or reading it himself. he is the poster child for what is wrong with our senators and representatives these days. Florida, let’s get rid of Bill nelson in 2012l.

Florida Job Market hits High Unemployment and Big Spending Bill Nelson and Mel “The Smell” Martinez are Fine with Making it Worse

by Lawrence on Jul.17, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics, The Earth

Well, the Florida jobs numbers came out today. Our unemployment rate is at 10.6%, 1.1% higher than the national rate. This is 4.6% higher than one year ago in Florida. Given this information, let us take a look at what our senators are planning to vote on in the U.S. senate and how that would impact Florida as well as the rest of the nation.

Big Spending Bill nelson in a Nutshell

It is very clear to Floridians now that Bill Nelson is no moderate. he has supported all of the recent big spending bills, to make him, “Big Spending Bill nelson of Florida.” He supported the stimulus package that was not read before voting. Only 10% of the stimulus was released so far. If only this amount was spent after 6 months, what was the big rush to pass the bill without reading it? Basically, the strategy was to avoid people having a chance to see what was in it, because they were told it was a stimulus package, when in reality, it was a left-wing pay off bill sending money to all the groups that helped get the Liberal Democrats elected.

Big spending Bill Nelson voted for it without reading it and he also voted for all the amendments that the Liberals added to make it bigger and voted down all the amendments that called for oversight and security.. or God forbid, cost cutting. He voted for the Omnibus Bill soon after that that included 4,000 pork barrel projects not designed for helping the economy, but for paying off supproter again. Bill Nelson also wanted to spend more on the auto company and bank bailouts than was actually spent! Bill Nelson is no moderate, he’s a big spending Lib!

Bill nelson Wants to Strap a Second Cap and Trade on Us

Now, our Liberal Senator, Bill Nelson, supports cap and trade. Florida already has a cap and trade system in place. This is one of the factors leading to our state’s high unemployment. It also is a direct cause of the high electric rates we have been paying the last two years. Companies and businesses also are paying higher rates, and that contributes to the amount of people they can hire and retain. Additionally, the use of fossil fuel energy in any company brings on a heavy tax burden as well. cap and Trade has hurt Florida, and now Bill Nelson wants to strap it on the whole country. As a result, Florida will be under 2 Cap and Trade systems, the state and the federal government. looks like unemployment is going to even higher thanks to Bill Nelson.

The National Black Chamber of Commerce, a Democratic group, even estimates that the Cap and Trade bill passed by the House of Representatives under heavy pressure from Nancy Pilosi and Barack obama will cost Americans an average of 2.5 million jobs per year. This figure also takes in account all the “green jobs” that they hope to create. When you have a Democratic group calculating such heavy job losses on their own legislation, you have to know that it can only be worse than that, not better. So, look out Florida, we are going to get hit really hard with out of control unemployment.

Cap and Trade will also make it harder to sell your home. In Florida, the housing market is severely crippled. On top of this, Bill Nelson is happy for us to have Federal Energy Regulations that will trump any state or local regulations. You will need energy certification from a federal beaurovrat to get PERMISSION to sell your home. You will need to update appliances, sealing on windows, and all the other energy0saving expenses that this left-wing government wants.

Mel “The Smell” Martinez

So, we have a left-wing Liberal in Bill Nelson, and now Mel Martinez, on his way out, decides he wants to be a Liberal Republican. he too supports Cap and Trade, which will kill jobs in Florida and hurt the job market. He doesn’t have to worry about running for election again, but let’s hope he doesn’t show up in some other position somewhere, because he stinks. Despite the fact that most Republicans are against the heavy-handed, job-killing Cap and Trade tax, this Liberal Republican wants to go for it. Why? Is he hoping to become a lobbyist for some far-left organization or something?

Obama uses Debbie Smith to Stage a “Tumor Moment” in Pimping Obamacare and Phoney Moderate, Bill Nelson starts “Tumor-gate” – Coincidence?

by Lawrence on Jul.02, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics, Tyranny

Who is Debbie Smith?

While we really hope that Debbie Smith wins her fight against cancer, since she is standing up for the Obamacare Health Plan, we should at least know a little bit more about her. With her tear-jerking story about having discovered another tumor, being without work, and wanting help with her condition, Debbie Smith became the poster child for Obamacare, as Barack Obama promised to help her during his town hall meeting on Wednesday. Obama claimed that a wealthy country like ares should be able to provide healthcare for people like Debbie Smith and emotionally promised to help her after the meeting.

What did not get statesd was that the Obamacare movement has been in contact with Debbie Smith since December 23, 2008. At that time, Tom Daschle was the presumed nominee for the H.H.S. cabinet position before his tax problems became public. During this time, Debbie Smith began working as an Obamacare activist, conducting town hall meetings and moderating healthcare meetings all across Virginia for the Democrats’ plan. So, while we are tol that she is out of a job and unable to work, we were not told that she is actually working as a healthcare activist for the Obama administration. So, this tear-jerking scene on Wednesday was staged in that Obama was well aware of her all along. Additionally, it seems like Debbie Smith is able to work and has been for the Democratic party for the last 7 months.

What about Medicaid?

There is already a government health program that is supposed to provide healthcare to those who are low income or not working. It is called Medicaid. Medicaid is basically bankrupt because of our nation’s out of control spending and mishandling of the program. Instead of trying to fix this program and restore some fiscal responsibility in Washington’s spending, Obama wants to expand the government’s failed programs in the healthcare industry to the entire industry. Given the track record of the government’s handling of Medicare and Medicaid, what makes us think that the government should get more control over healthcare and actually be successful this time?

People whoa re in the potion of Debbie Smith should be able to take advantage of this already existing government program. If it isn’t working right, then that shows that the government needs to reform what it already has implemented rather than taking over more of the healthcare industry. But, as we know now, most people are not in Debbie Smith’s position of being a spokesperson for Obamacare.

Bill Nelson of Florida gets in on the Tumor Act

On Wednesday, Obama’s Democratic henchmen, Florida Senator, Bill Nelson, got in on the tumor act as well. Nelson is calling for investigations of a Palm Beach County community where there are a number of brain tumor cases. Nelson beleives that there is some environmental reason for the brain tumor cases there and is calling upon the EPA to investigate. It is funny how Bill Nelson declares it to be an environmental problem before there is even an investigation. He also is not saying what environmental problem it could be, just that it is probably an environmental problem.

Bill Nelson is a left-wing Democrat who sells himself as a “moderate Democrat” to Florida. He has backed all of the big spending that the Obama movement has engaged in. He also supports Obamacare and the Cap and Trade tax. In order to pretend he is a moderate, he made up an excuse for why he is against offshore drilling off of the coast of Florida. Knowing that Floridians would benefit from the large increase in jobs and energy resources that this would provide, Bill Nelson is against because he says that it would interfere with military training that is conducted off of the coast of Florida. This is a line of BS to try to make his left-wing anti-drilling position more agreeable to moderates. The military has no problem witht he drilling off of the coast of Florida. Bill Nelson just wants to come up with another excuse other than the fact that he is against fossil fuels and is a member of the global warming alarmist community in Washington.

The timing of Bill Nelson’s “Tumor-gate” and Barack Obama’s “Tumor Moment” Wednesday is quite a coincidence. It’s as if there is some sort of left-wing think tank that has just decided that “Tumor Propaganda” would be a good move for them all to take right now. The irony is that those who suffer from later stages of cancer will be the first to be deprived of healthcare in the rationing that will ensue if Obama gets his healthcare plan passed. Just like state-run healthcare plans in Canda and the UK, later term cancer patients are the first to be refused expensive care since their probabilities are not high enough to warrant spending on their care.

Big Spending Bill NelsonWants to Levy the Highest Tax in U.S. History on the American People

by Lawrence on May.29, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics

I am focusing this post on Senator Bill Nelson (D) of Florida because he is one of the 2 senators that represent the state of Florida in the U.S. senate. I focus on Bill Nelson here, because I think he is dead wrong on the Cap and Trade< tax. He has been supporting all the big spending bills that have been put before the Senate since the beginning of the year, and even back through last fall. He is a member of the Senate Budget Committee, and he has been strapping huge amounts of debt on the American people and is now in lock step with the far-left in putting the largest tax in U.S. history on the backs of the American people during a recession. This is all done in false claims about Environmental issues.

I document my letter to Senator Bill Nelson in a previous post. Here is the ltter again.

Dear Senator Nelson,

I am disappointed in your stand in favor of the cap and trade tax. This is the greatest tax increase in American history, and you are putting it on the backs of the American people during, what your own Democratic Party calls “the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression.”

Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant. It is what we exhale when we breathe, and without it, there would be no green plant life living on this planet. How can you declare such a falsehood of Carbon Dioxide being a pollutant as an excuse to tax the American people heavily?
s
Even the Global Warming crowd is admitting now that the Earth has been cooling over the last 10 years, and the American people are realizing that their claims have been grossly over-exaggerated. At this point in time, you want to use such hype as a way to tax the air around us to satisfy your left-wing activist groups.

You used to say that you were a modrate, but it is obvious that you are not.

Senator Bill Nelson’s Response and my Debate

Here’s Bill acting like he’s giving advice to Obama. Actually, it’s just a photo-op. Bill pretty much just follows along like a lost puppy.

Dear Dr. Moore:

Thank you for contacting me regarding proposals to limit harmful carbon emissions.

Senator starts of his letter with a either a lie or an example of ignorance. Carbon Dioxide is the gas that plants need to live and it is a gas that we exhale every time we breathe out. It is not harmful. The EPA and the U.S. Supreme Court declared it harmful because they are also politically motivated. When political motivation leads you to state things that false and is something that we all learned in high school biology, then you know that the politics are very dirty.

I am interested in such proposals because they would let the free enterprise, private marketplace–not the government–dictate how to lower pollutants.

Bill Nelson is completely full of crap in this next statement too. It is not based on free market principles for the government to levy fines on companies for emitting a gas that is not a pollutant. He declares the gas that plants breathe a pollutant and also states that this is based on free market principles. Free market principles do not make a pure gas a pollutant nor punish industry for producing it!

The best way to bring jobs and prosperity back to this country is also the best way to end our dependence on foreign oil and protect the Earth we leave for future generations: building things in America again, starting with wind turbines, solar panels, and energy-efficient products. We have led in every technological revolution of the last two centuries: electricity, the telephone, automobiles, television, computers, and there’s no reason we can’t lead this one.

Bill Nelson is so full of it in this statement. If you fine companies for producing Carbon Dioxide, they have to make up for that expense by raising their prices on EVERYBODY and probably eliminating jobs. If you punish business, jobs go down! If you want to get off foreign oil, you need to drill here and not punish American companies that produce it! At least do this until the alternatives are stronger in being able to handle our energy needs. Instead of punishing foreign oil, he’s punishing American oil, natural gas, and coal! Coal is the largest resource that we use for electricity, so guess what?! Our electric bills are going up! This means for private citizens as well as businesses. Talk about ajob killer, when all the businesses in the country have to pay higher utility bills, I think they just might start reducing jobs! This Cap and Trade tax is going to recude jobs, not create them! Bill Nelson is a liar.

Americans will not pay higher taxes if Congress limits carbon emissions. Instead, industrial polluters will be required to pay. I will work to ensure that if the government makes money from this program it will be returned to taxpayers, so polluters will pay more and consumers will not.

This is another line of crap from Bill nelson. If you are charging utility companies for producing Carbon Dioxide, they either have to pass that expense on to the consumer, or go out of business. Or, are you going to keep up with your big spending ways and bail them out for the taxes you put on them?! Everything that is produced requires electricity. Grocery stores will pay more for their electric, and food prices go up. Shipping companies need to pay more for using gas in their trucks, so everything that gets shipped to the store will cost more! This is nothing but a huge tax on everyone based on a lie. Big Spending Bill Nelson needs to squeeze more money out of us to pay for his big spending habits.

In fact, here’s Barack Obama, the Messiah himself, telling us how our utility costs will “Necessarily skyrocket.”

I appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts with me, and I respect your views. Please feel free to contact me again in the future regarding any additional issues of concern.

You do not appreciate any thoughts other than your own. Big Spending Bill Nelson will be up for re-election in

, which is too far away. In about two years he’ll start acting like a moderate Democrat to get re-elected. Let it be known –

SENATOR BILL NELSON OF FLORIDA IS A BIG SPENDING LIBERAL

Senator Bill Nelson has been voting for all the big spending bills, bailout bills, budget-breaking bills, and now he needs to slam us all with the biggest tax increase of U.S. history to pay for the big spending that he and his party have been engaged in.

Fight Against the Largest and Most Regressive Tax Increase in American History!

by Lawrence on May.13, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics, The Earth

The greatest tax in American history is upon us. The left-wing arm of the Democratic Party is leading the moderates around by the nose.

What is Cap and Trade?

Simply put, it is a tax on anything that produces Carbon Dioxide. You know that gas that we breathe out when we exhale and the gas that all plant life breathes and needs to live? The EPA, under command from left-wing groups has declared it a pollutant. Therefore, it will be taxed if Henry Waxman, who is sponsoring the bill, gets it through.

So What, it doesn’t hurt to Reduce Carbon Dioxide

Actually, you can turn that around and say “So what, Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant and its affect on the climate is grossly over-exaggerated by the Global Warming Flat-Earthers. Namely, the Earth has been cooling for the last 10 years, Carbon Dioxide is 0.04% of the atmosphere, and this tax will make everything cost more for everybody. It is also the most regressive tax that you can have in that it will hurt the lower income people the most. Since Obama gets more money from the Liberal Elite, he’s willing to sell out the poor for this cause.

So What Gets Taxed??

Everything. Every product you buy gets shipped from one place to another. Trains, planes, and trucks all emit Carbon Dioxide. These shipping comapnies will be taxed heavily, so everything you buy, such as groceries, clothing…whatever… will cost a lot more. Your utility bills will go up since most of our electric is manufactured by coal. The rise in costs to the average person are estimated at the low end of $3100.00 a year. Even with solar panels and windmills, it will take decades for the country to reduce the amount of fossil fuel useful that we have. Instead of promoting alternatives, the government wants to make us suffer over what we have and still do need.

Seeing how nuclear power plants do not emit Carbon Dioxide or any pollutants, they are a good way to help us escape this taxation, but the government, under the leadership of the loony left does not want them. Solar panels and windmills are it, simply because nuclear power is related to nuclear weapons, and therefore, it is all evil to the campfire singers. Even solar panels and windmills are evil to some of the greeny weenies out there. They don’t want fields to loose theyir beauty by having them there. They want us all to return to living by candlelight at night.

What can we do?

Write your congressman and senators. Here is my letter to Senator Bill Nelson of Florida who supports the Cap and Trade Tax. He used to be a moderate Democrat, but he’s firmly on the big spending, left-wing Liberal bandwagon, and has been ever since Barack Obama got elected.

Dear Senator Nelson,

I am disappointed in your stand in favor of the cap and trade tax. This is the greatest tax increase in American history, and you are putting it on the backs of the American people during, what your own Democratic Party calls “the greatest economic crisis since the Great Dpression.”

Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant. It is what we exhale when we breathe, and without it, there would be no green plant life living on this planet. How can you declare such a falsehood of Carbon Dioxide being a pollutant as an excuse to tax the American people heavily?

At this point in time, you want to use such hype as a way to tax the air around us to satisfy your left-wing activist groups.

You used to say that you were a modrate, but it is obvious that you are not.

Nobody’s Stopping Alternatives

The thing that gets me is that no one’s stopping alternative energy from being marketed or used. So, why attack fossil fuels? Why not let the market and time take its course as alternatives are used more and fossil fuels used less? Why tax the hell out of the American people during a recession to do this? Why? Because the left-wing loonies are in charge and they want to do it their way. Punish industry and punish the masses.

Hey Bill Nelson, Your Voters Deserve to Hear your Opinion on Card Check!

by Lawrence on Apr.13, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics

Well, it looks like the rest of Florida is also wondering what Bill Nelson’s opinion on card check just might be. This article is from the Orlando Sentinnel. The author’s name was not included on their website. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

We think: On card-check bill, Nelson and Kosmas will show if they leveled with voters

March 19, 2009

The battle is heating up again in Washington, D.C., over changing the law to let unions represent workplaces without first earning majority support from employees in secret-ballot elections.

Backers in Congress of the misnamed “Employee Free Choice Act” re-introduced that legislation this month. And the list of sponsors in the House and Senate calls into question the centrist credentials of at least a couple ofDemocrats from Central Florida — Rep. Suzanne Kosmas of New Smyrna Beach, and Sen. Bill Nelson of Orlando.

With the goal of helping labor unions reverse a steady decline in their membership, the bill would tilt the rules for organizing workplaces against businesses. It’s a union power grab.

Two other Democrats who represent Central Florida, Reps.Corrine Brown and Alan Grayson, also have co-sponsored the legislation. Ms. Brown never has left any serious doubts in her campaigns that she would do the bidding of organized labor. Neither did Mr. Grayson in his campaign last year.

But Ms. Kosmas, in unseating three-term conservative Republican Tom Feeney last year, portrayed herself as a moderate, pro-business candidate. And Mr. Nelson, when he won re-election in 2006 over conservative Republican Katherine Harris, also ran as a moderate, business-friendly Democrat.

usiness leaders hate what they’ve dubbed the card-check bill. It would upend a decades-old system that lets employers demand a federally supervised secret-ballot election for workers to decide whether they want to unionize. That system gives both sides time to make their case to workers.

Under the bill, labor organizers could declare victory without a vote if they persuaded a simple majority of eligible workers to sign cards supporting the union. Organizers wouldn’t even have to inform management, or all the employees, that a drive was under way. They could buttonhole employees away from work, even at home at night, with cards to sign.

The bill would still allow workers to call for an election after 30 percent have signed cards — a provision that supporters of the legislation use to insist it wouldn’t do away with secret-ballot voting. But it stretches credibility to the breaking point that organizers, who would be driving the process, would ever demand a vote at that point when they could win without one by persuading another 20 percent of workers to sign cards.

Labor leaders and their friends in Washington contend unionizing by card-check is needed because employers often mislead or threaten their workers in the campaigns leading up to votes. But it’s quite possible for unions to apply their own pressure to employees. A secret ballot is still the best way for workers to decide without either side breathing down their necks.

Another toxic provision in the bill would give a government arbitrator the power to impose a two-year contract on an employer and union after just two months if the two sides are unable to come to an agreement. Either side could end up stuck with a deal it doesn’t want.

More than half of House members, almost all of them Democrats, have co-sponsored the legislation. That virtually assures its passage in the House, unless some supporters have second thoughts. We urge Ms. Kosmas to withdraw her support. If she won’t, voters who backed her as a pro-business candidate might want to reconsider their support.

The bill has 40 co-sponsors in the Senate — not enough to pass it, and 20 votes short of a filibuster-proof majority. Mr. Nelson’s vote could be crucial in determining whether the bill becomes law. He has said he expects changes to be made as the legislation is debated. If those changes don’t include restoring secret-ballot elections and eliminating binding arbitration, he, too, should pull his support.

Ms. Kosmas’ and Mr. Nelson’s loyalty to voters should trump their loyalty to organized labor.

An Abomination to Democracy – The Employee Free Choice Act

by Lawrence on Apr.10, 2009, under For Floridians, Politics

Well the is before the congress and will probably be looked at soon after the recess. I found a video that seems to be the most thorough description of this bill and includes all the major arguments. I personally am strongly against this bill because it takes away the freedom that we all hold dear in this country, free and fair elections.

YouTube Preview Image

Any voting that does not include a secret ballot is not free voting. as seems to be the trend lately, this is another Democrat-driven bill with a name that is the exact opposite of what it is. Nothing stops employees from unionizing by using secret ballots. We use secret ballots to elect our government officials. Now, some of our government officials want to take away that right in the workplace.

The left says conservatives are crazy for thinking that the Obama administrations and the left wing Democrats in congress are taking away our freedoms and defying the constitution. Here’s evidence that shows at least one case where the hallmarks of Democracy are being challenged by the Democratic party and its labor interest groups.

Senator Bill Nelson on card check

I have emailed my two senators about the Employee Free Choice Act, and have only gotten a response saying that they will consider my thoughts. Of course, one always expects a form response and that at least the office will keep a tally of the voters’ opinions. Mel Martinez is most likely not going to support it since he is a Republican and has not shown any sign of being in favor of it.

Bill Nelson, however, even upon a second request specifically for his opinion instead of just a general history of the bill, has not responded. Bill Nelson has not responded with his opinions on a number of issues that I have written to him about. Apparently, he only gives his opinion when he wants to. Seeing how Bill Nelson has been basically in lock-step with every thing the new leftist congress and Barack Obama have been doing, I’m sure he’ll support the bill and put his party before the people once again. Seeing how Florida is a right-to-work state, he would be going against the own interests of his state, but he has been doing a LOT of that lately as just another foot soldier int he far left revolution in the congress.

I will give Bill Nelson a few more days before I give up on getting a response from his office. So far, it has been a week since I sent the follow-up email requesting more than just the general history response. I believe his constituents are entitled to know his position and not be kept in the dark.

I have posted the Senate and House bills on my political tracker to see what happens. The bill, thus far, is only sponsored by Democrats. Of course, the Democrats have not worried about bi-partisanship recently and have unilaterally rejected Republican amendments and changes to all of the bills that they have been forcing through on party line. In his pretense of a moderate Democrat, I am greatly interested in seeing how Bill Nelson will vote on this one.
